History: Thaitduki Nihonto is owned and run by the Sivarat family who has been making Japanese Katanas for over 400 years. In 2001 the Sivarat family started Thaitsuki Nihonto, then joined with 8 Japanese master sword smiths and recruited 16 master craftsmen all with over 12 years experience in their trade. ThaitSuki Nihonto has followed the Sivarat family tradition of using only the highest quality metals and materials when making their swords and holding the finished Japanese katana to the highest of quality standards. The Sivarat family says "Our family history has great sword making reputation and we will not compromise that reputation."

    Forging: Thaitsuki Nihonto has perfected the forging of Japanese swords over the past 400 years by using the Yamato (Hyoshigi) forging method. The blade is first forged by hammering soft iron and steel into one piece. The blade is then hammered until the firm shape of the sword is achieved. The blade is then placed in the fire, under temperatures of 750 to 1000 degrees celosias, then soaked in water (not oil). During this process the blade is naturally hardened and given the strength and flexibility it needs to support the forces of cutting and practicing.

    Materials: ThaitSuki Nihonto Japanese swords are hand made with the highest quality fittings and traditional materials. The fuchi (collar), menuki (ornaments), Kashira (buttcap) and habaki (blade collar) are made from 90% silver and 10% copper, with an antiqued finish. The tsuka ito (braide) is made from 100% Japanese silk, leather or cotton (depending on model). The tsuka (handle) is covered with real same' (rayskin). The tsuba is made from 100% brass. The saya (scabbard) is made from 100% black wood. The tang is full and funagata style. The blade is forged from 2 types of high carbon steel, imported from Japan to Thailand, then shaped into a Shinogi Zukuri style blade.
